How to attract the Spirit of increase

Rhema Christian Church

If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit ~ Leviticus 26:3–4.

Introduction

Happy New Year blessings to you, esteemed readers of this weekly column. I warmly welcome you into this brand-new year, our Year of Increase on Every Side, in Jesus’ precious name.

For many years, it has been our spiritual practice to seek the mind of the Lord for a word in season before stepping into a new year. With clarity and assurance, the Holy Spirit impressed upon our hearts this banner word for this year: “Increase on Every Side”.

Individually and corporately as the Body of Christ, God is set to usher us into new dimensions of growth, enlargement, and multiplication. Grace shall increase. Capacity shall expand. Influence shall widen. There shall be greater fruitfulness, visibility, and impact—to the glory of God.

Though there may be shakings among the nations, we must resolve in our hearts to move forward (Haggai 2:6–7). Forward movement leads to life and liberty; backward movement leads to bondage. As believers, we are ordained to grow in wisdom, honour, discipline, spiritual stature, social relevance, and material provision.

Yet it is important to understand that increase is more than noise, numbers, and nickels. It is fundamentally rooted in the nature of God and the expansion of His Kingdom. Ours is a growing—not a failing—Kingdom. God desires that we grow in faith, grace, knowledge, and spiritual depth, even as our lives flourish outwardly (Matthew 6:33; Ephesians 4:16).

God’s Plan for Our Increase

God invested too much in our redemption to expect a feeble outcome. Through Christ, we have been redeemed from the curse and brought into the blessing of Abraham (Galatians 3:13–14). His will is that we live life abundantly (John 10:10).

Starting small is neither a curse nor a failure. Many great destinies begin quietly. However, remaining small is never God’s intention: “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase”(Job 8:7).

God’s plan carries the insignia of generational and ever-abounding increase (Psalm 115:13–15). He is mindful not only of you, but also of your children. His blessing empowers and equips us for success in every sphere of life.

Abraham stands as a classic example in this regard: “I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him” (Isaiah 51:2). His journey reveals a divine pattern: the “call”produced the “blessing”, and the “blessing”resulted in “increase”. Importantly, the same God who called Abraham has also called you (1 Corinthians 1:26).

Ways to Attract the Spirit of Increase

While God is the Ultimate Source of increase, believers must cooperate with Him through faith, obedience, and righteous living (Deuteronomy 29:9). Below are key pathways to attracting the Spirit of Increase.

1. Understand That Increase Is God’s Will

From creation, God’s mandate was clear: “Be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion”(Genesis 1:28). This intention has not changed. Scripture affirms that God desires us to prosper and be in health, even as our souls prosper (3 John 2).

Jesus declared that He came to give life “more abundantly” (John 10:10). Where abundance is absent, the thief may be at work—but Christ has already paid the full price for our redemption and increase. Our responsibility is to receive and walk in it by faith.

2. Have Faith in the Word of God

Your level of increase is directly tied to your faith in God’s Word (Mark 4:24–25). When the Word is heard, believed, and mixed with faith, increase becomes inevitable.

Faith recognizes that invisible spiritual realities govern visible outcomes (Hebrews 11:3). The secret of enlargement is not merely in physical activity, but in spiritual alignment. Therefore, renew your mind, reject worldly pessimism, and cultivate faith-filled thoughts (Romans 12:2).

3. Speak Increase

God calls things that do not exist as though they already do (Romans 4:17), and He has created us in His image to function likewise. God’s Word carries spiritual authority—and so do faith-filled words spoken in alignment with His will.

Speak the Word over your finances. Speak it over your body. Speak it over your future. Jesus assured us that God’s Word spoken in faith can move mountains (Mark 11:23).

Refuse to be governed by circumstances. Rise in faith and declare God’s promises over your life.

4. Walk in the Atmosphere of Divine Righteousness

The state of your heart largely determines what life yields to you (Proverbs 4:23). Righteousness—being in agreement with God—creates a spiritual atmosphere that attracts increase (Hebrews 1:9).

Righteousness begins in thoughts and attitudes before manifesting in actions (Philippians 4:8–9). A heart aligned with God repels evil and attracts divine favour. Integrity, gratitude, and obedience make room for the Spirit of Increase.

5. Be a Doer of the Word

A life of increase requires alignment with God in every area. Live right and follow Christ wholeheartedly; He is the only way to eternal life (Acts 4:12; John 14:6-7). Think right and see yourself as God sees you—redeemed, blessed, and accepted.

Speak right, confessing what God says about you. Give generously, not out of compulsion but from a heart of love. Praise God regardless of circumstances—praise is a spiritual weapon that invites divine intervention and supernatural increase (Psalms 67:5-7).

Build a community of Increase! God never blesses in isolation; increase flourishes in community. Be generous toward God’s work and toward people. Commit yourself to soul-winning and Kingdom expansion. Be firmly planted in a local church, distributing and supplying your portion faithfully (Romans 12:10–13). As you do these consistently, you will be well positioned for supernatural increase.

Conclusion

You have a role to play in receiving the Spirit of Increase: “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasures”(Job 36:11).

Faithful obedience and service unlock divine increase. God has already positioned helpers of destiny around your life, but receiving what He has prepared requires surrender, consistency, and obedience (Isaiah 1:19).

Know God intimately. Fellowship with Him continually. Walk in His commandments. Yield to the Holy Spirit. As you do, the Spirit of God will reveal to you the pathways of blessing, and as you act promptly, supernatural increase will become your lived experience. You will not miss it, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen. Happy Sunday!
